– У меня в подчинении 96 человек надомников, они плетут сетки дома, ведь многим уже трудно приходить сюда, – рассказывает Скачкова. – В основном, приходят те, кто только обучается. Учатся около двух недель. Больше всего, конечно, женщин.
В Арзамасе, да и во всей нижегородской области, Скачкова – единственная, кто преподает сотворение авоськи. К ней даже из других районов приезжают.
– Однажды ко мне пришли местные рыбаки и попросили научить вязать хозсетку. Говорили, что хорошие рыболовные снасти из нее получаются. Вот я их и учила, совершенно бесплатно, – вспоминает Валентина Федоровна.
– А что вы и ваши подопечные делали в 90-е, когда спрос на авоськи упал? – спрашиваю я.
– Перешли на хозмешки, – беззаботно отвечает Скачкова. – Это, по сути, такая же авоська, только в несколько раз больше и разве что ячейки сетки шире.
Валентина Федоровна отвела меня к своим ученицам. В небольшой комнате, тихо беседуя, сидело несколько женщин. Они плели авоськи. На каждом столе лежал большой моток ниток и деревянный брусочек с двумя гвоздями, за них женщины цепляли ручки будущей авоськи и плели, плели, плели ячейки – без конца.
Скачкова между тем негромко объяснила, что дело это кропотливое. В авоськоплетении много разных приспособлений. Есть, например, челнок, с помощью которого вывязываются «оконца» авоськи. Есть специальные пластмассовые планочки – одна для вязки основной части, вторая, потоньше, – для провязки дна.
Большинству сидящих здесь женщин уже за 50. Больше двадцати лет они проработали на ОП «Автопровод», делали жгуты, а сейчас уже видеть их не могут – в прямом смысле слова. Как и все инвалиды по зрению, женщины получают пенсию около 7000 рублей. Ну, еще и прибавка за авоськи. Сделал 10 штук – получай 4200 рублей.
Повидала я и надомницу Ирину Устимову. Она уже двадцать лет как плетет авоськи, не выходя из квартиры: ничего не видит. В квартире Устимовой все просто. Фамильные часы на стене, черно-белый кот на полу. У незрячей хозяйки есть заботливый муж, слесарь-наладчик. Красавица дочка от первого брака. Муж очень поддерживает: авоськи вместе с ней вяжет. Приходит с работы и, пока жена разогревает ужин, довязывает начатое. Так вечера и коротают. За бесконечными ячейками время в Арзамасе течет почти незаметно.
И всем этим женщинам я задавала один и тот же глупый вопрос.
– Скажите, – просила я, – скажите, пожалуйста, дарит ли вам авоська хоть какую-то надежду? И если да, то на что?
И все отвечали одно и то же, теребя концы сетки, ласково улыбаясь и совершенно непроницаемо глядя сквозь меня:
– Конечно, дарит. Надеемся, что в Москве сделают так, чтобы нам легче жилось.
Они правда верят, что сделают.

Замечательная статья, после ее прочтения мне сразу захотелось найти и приобрести себе пару таких авосек. Ярких. И избавиться от горы пластиковых пакетов. Но к моему великому сожалению Евгений Рапопорт и его авоськи находятся слишком далеко от меня.
Статья-то замечательная))) Только вряд ли конкурент авоська пласт. пакетам. Во-первых, в ней все видно. Во-вторых, она по-прежнему, как понятно, режет бумагу. В-третьих - возмутительно высока себестоимость и цена, в прошлые времена авоськи стоили копейки. Из-за одной цены я бы не стала брать эти новомодные штучки. В-четвертых, на случай дождя пакет защитит свое содержимое, В отличие от авоськи. В-пятых, авоська не столь многофункциональна. В пакете можно нести не только картошки, бутылки и арбузы. Но и книги, например. В-шестых - боюсь, что краска может полинять)))
Делали бы лучше сумки из холстины, прочные и недорогие.
